Briedis’ final message to Opetaia
By Simon Brunsdon17:18
Mairis Briedis is something of a comedian – in the last few days he’s enjoyed cracking jokes with the Australian media.
When it was put to him how “hungry” his opponent Jai Opetaia is to usurp him as world champion, Briedis smiled.
“I heard many times about ‘hungry’,” Briedis said.
“But what I can say about this is when we meet in the ring, I will feed him, because he is very hungry.”
When told of the Briedis message, Opetaia was not fazed one bit.
“Bring it, I’m ready. I know this is going to be hard but I’m ready for it, I’m ready to dig deep, ready to earn it,” the Gold Coast local said.
“This is it, you don’t just get given this shit. You’ve got to go earn it.”
Koen Mazoudier def Joel Camilleri via split decision
By Simon Brunsdon17:09
Koen Mazoudier gets the points in his super-welterweight bout with Joel Camilleri.
The judges scored it 98-92 95-96 99-92, two of them giving the decision to Mazoudier and one siding with Camilleri.
Mazoudier was definitely landing better punches. Camilleri had his head down a lot and had to be warned by the referee to keep it up.
Mazoudier retains his titles.

Next bout should be a corker, too.
No fight has gone the distance tonight yet… will these guys get to the judges’ scorecards?
Stay tuned.
Taylah Robertson def Yoselin Rodriguez
By Simon Brunsdon16:14
Taylah Robertson had the biggest crowd support of the night so far, and she certainly turned it on in the ring.
The referee stops the fight in the 10th round, handing Robertson the TKO victory.
The Venezuala fighter copped a beating but it was a bizarre stoppage nonetheless, and Rodriguez was filthy.
Robertson is the new junior bantamweight champion of the world!
The 27-year-old is undefeated as a professional but Briedis, 37, represents by far the toughest test of his career.
We’ll bring you all the action live from the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre.
